Kristen Wiig's Last 'SNL' Episode Was 'Difficult,' Lorne Michaels Says

Lorne Michaels Talks Kristen Wiig's 'SNL' Exit

Emotions were running high on the season finale of "Saturday Night Live" and nobody knows that better than Lorne Michaels, the man behind the long-running series. Kristen Wiig took her final bow on the stage at Studio 8H as a regular cast member of "Saturday Night Live."

"It was difficult for all of us," Michaels told reporters on the red carpet for the 71st Annual Peabody Awards. "And I think most difficult for her."

The last sketch of the night saw host Mick Jagger congratulating the "Saturday Night Live" players on finishing out the year, joking that it took Wiig seven years to graduate. Wiig danced with Jagger, the current "SNL" cast members and finished the sketch by dancing with Michaels.

Wiig joined the cast in 2005 and quickly became one of the standout performers, making characters like Gilly a household name. Since being on the series, Wiig has been nominated three times for a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series and picked up an Oscar nomination for writing the 2011 hit "Bridesmaids."
