Magician Pours Beer From iPad (VIDEO)

Posted: Updated: 05/22/2012 9:55 am

Do our eyes deceive us? Is this man actually pouring beer from an iPad?

That's what it looks like in this video by German magician and performance artist Simon Pierro, who manages to pull of some impressive technological theatrics. Watch closely as the beer level on screen lowers the more Pierro pours.

According to Pierro's website, he has a degree in economic engineering (a useful skill set for making beer-dispensing iPads?) and has appeared on numerous German television programs. He's won several awards, too, including the 2004 Siegfried & Roy Award in Las Vegas.

Pierro has plenty other examples of what he calls "digital magic" on the site, like pouring milk on a television and getting the onscreen person wet.

How does he do it? Watch the below video and make your own guess.

That's actually a pretty clever illusion. Of course it involves misdirection; magic has done so ever since the invention of ... listen carefully ... sleight of hand. I've seen cleverer illusions but this one's pretty good.

I'd like to echo NastyN82 .. lets see you critics do something better ... or even as good. Putting together something like that is a lot more difficult than you might think and, on the whole, I think it's done pretty cleverly, as everyone in the audience seems to agree.

The fact that you, sitting there, able to watch and re-watch it, can spot it does not in any way detract from the good time the people there had or the obvious enjoyment of the guy who pulled it off ... thank goodness.

Yeah,
pretty bad trick. at 15sec you can clearly see him adding something to the top of the tap. Otherwise this step wouldn't be needed if he were to just pour it.

It is kinda cool that the beer in the ipad goes down as he pours it.

It would be even more fun if it had a secret compartment where one could store a couple doobies as back-up!

What a lame "Illusion". The hose is in his sleeve. It goes to a bladder in his jacket. His other hand is holding the Ipad while his finger is pressing the screen to make the beer appear to be "Emptying".

Notice his right hand never leaves the beer tap. He always deflects attention to his other hand, like when he holds up the iPad. Nice illusion, though.

It is remarkably easy to tell that he has some type of tube running to his hand from his sleeve. Pretty weak magic.

This. It's also helpful that most of his audience is bound to be drunk

how am I wrong? The first time the magician attaches the tap to the ipad you can clearly tell he is attaching something to the tap with his right hand. Several times during the video you can see him awkwardly holding his right hand to cover something. Is he your friend or something?
