Shana Bishop, Mother Arrested For Child Neglect, Danced In Driveway While Son Slept Naked In Trash

Shana Bishop

A South Carolina woman was arrested for child neglect last week after Spartanburg County Sheriff's deputies discovered her naked 2-year-old son asleep in a pile of trash on the floor of her car, WYFF-TV reports.

The woman, 36-year-old Shana Bishop, pulled into a stranger's driveway and began dancing around. A witnesses said that a cup holder from the car was stuck in Bishop's hair.

A resident called authorities, who questioned Bishop. A Spartanburg Country Sheriff's deputy said that the woman thought she was at her mother-in-law's house, appeared to be under the influence of narcotics and admitted to prior use of methamphetamine.

Deputies found Bishop's child sleeping on the trash-covered floorboard of the woman's 1996 Cadillac DeVille, according to Go Upstate.

Bishop was arrested and charged with child neglect, according to court records.

The toddler, whom deputies said had welts and bruises on his legs, was taken to a regional hospital, then released into the custody of Bishop's parents.

According to WYFF-TV, the woman's parents "said they had been raising the child until three weeks ago, when Bishop took the boy and they were unable to find her."

In April, a Spartanburg mother and her boyfriend were arrested and charged with child abuse after the woman's 2-year-old sustained life-threatening injuries and had to have part of his skull removed.

Yet we're worried about gay people raising children?

I could probably write on each of these how disturbed this individual is. How did she drive there without getting into an accident is what I would like to know. She wasn't just high, she was in the stratosphere on whatever she took.

What? Why was she dancing in the driveway at all? This stuff just gets more and more messed up.

They could have driven the car INTO the person's house INSTEAD.

Just one more sad sign of the times.
Wish I could say it'll get better.....but the truth is I don't think it will.
Not before the aliens get here,
or the meteor hits us,
or what ever the event is that ends all this madness for good.
Quick....run and get me my rose colored glasses, and call me an optimist.

There's a root cause to everything. Find the cause and fix it and the problem goes away.
09:52 AM on 02/23/2013
You can't take that chance when a child is involved. Look what she did the second time around.

You don't give a mad dog a second chance and you should not give this type of parent a second chance.

It would take years to get to the cause and to fix it, if it is fixable. Not worth it, when there are people who would love the two year old.

What a Monster this woman is! They should throw her in prison for life and take her child away forever! Incomprehensible child abuse and neglect that this loser infringed on her child. She deserves no mercy, and neither does the boyfriend whom was equally involved in the life threatening injuries caused!

I don't think the last paragraph in that article has anything to do with the woman dancing in the driveway while her kid slept in the trash in her car. Sounds like they are talking about a completely different case. It just says "a Spartanburg woman . . .", it doesn't really refer to any particular woman. Wonder why they even mentioned it in connection with this story and didn't report any more about it unless the story is almost a year old. I think if it was they same woman, the article would have said so.

Who even the heck frickin knows, goncrazi?  So may unanswered questions but It seems like that both these adults should be thrown in prison,  How dare they impose life threatening injuries on her child.  Cold blooded monsters that have no soul do things like that...NOT NORMAL PEOPLE.  I would like to hope that you agree, goncrazi.
01:25 AM on 05/07/2013
I questiuoned that as well - not clear if it is the same person and a typo ( should be "the" instead of "a") or a completely different case.
I can think of three words
Reprehensible, unconscionable, unforgivable.
You might add sterilization as well.

With all the news about meth addiction and what it does to people and their families, why on earth would anyone want to even try it?????????

Terry Long I don't think even an addict can explain why - no different than an alcoholic. Some people can use it occationally, only when and if they feel like it but there are those that once they experience the feelings (usually euphoria) the drug give them they want it more and more, then before long the want becomes need. It's mostly tied up in how the particular drug makes an individual about themselves, what's going on in their live, stuff like that. Doctors can't say why one person does a particular drug once feels they must have it all the time while another person can do the same drug and take it or leave it. Many drugs, not just meth has that affect on people. Heroin, crystal, cocaine, barbituates, these drugs change a person's perspective on themselves, what's going on in their life and most don't realize what a mess they are making of everything until they hit bottom - just like most alcoholics. Worst part, is everyone starts out with "That's not going to happen to me." They don't understand how easily these chemicals can steal their souls.

It doesn't matter if this kind of thing happens in SC or anywhere in the south. It happens all over the country. Meth is the devil! People in the north east kill & bury their children in the back yard, people in CA, keep there children chained up in dog cages. Not always drug related, sometimes just sick people. UGH!

There is no way any parent can prevent there grown child from getting involved with drugs. My sister has twins both were fantastic kids growing up any one would be proud to claim them , Then some where about 3 years ago one started messing around with meth today I don't recognize him in personality or looks I have no idea if we will ever get him back. My sister has tried everything from borrowing money for rehab to tough love thats where we are now. So from first hand I can promise you her parents can not be to blame for her poor choses. I do hope this woman can or will get the help she needs but I wont be holding my breath

My mother is a drug addict and has been since she was 16 years old. My grandparents did everything right; my mom has 2 sisters who are just fine, one is an RN and one is a computer programmer. Sometimes people screw up and their parents can't stop it. My grandparents took my mother to countless rehabs and treatment centers, and did everything in their power to help her. She didn't want the help. Parents don't cause this, if they did, my 2 aunts would be just the same as my mother.

Well SHAME on her!!! From all the horrible stories I've read about child abuse/neglect, I now have to say that anyone who has the desire to have children, must and should take a parenting class. Yes, even if the child is unplanned. Parenting is a difficult responsibility however equally rewarding, children should never be harmed. God bless and protect the children of the world from harm and irresponsible parents.

A parenting class is a great idea but its not nearly enough and its not going to protect any child from Parents whom are evil monsters unfortunately. Verym very sad situation...

I've never tried meth, never ever want to get anywhere near the stuff. All I've ever seen of "meth heads" are horrific examples of self destruction, and misery rendered upon those involved with anyone addicted to this poison.

For anyone who doubts this, observe exhibit A . . .

What/who is exhibit A? The woman? She doesn't look bad - her face is starting to break out but other than that it hasn't taken it's toll on her looks yet. Not sure about her teeth though but by the shape of her mouth they are still there. She doesn't look starved so she is still eating - a good sign. Maybe she is a recreational meth user. Some people can do it every now and then without the meth getting it's hooks into them. Personally I can take it or leave it. I don't like it that much. The high is ok (there are other drugs that are better) but it doesn't last very long (other drugs last much longer) and coming off it is a hard crash which makes it not worth it (to me anyway). I agree that meth has a tendency to do nothing but render misery and self destruction to any that become addicted to it.

Marriage licenses should stand for more tha a "Head Counting" device and taxation ! . . Dump the marriage license and start requiring licenses to qualify for child bearing and rearing ! . . This way there's a mechanism in place by which to halt marriages and child bearing among those who are clearly mentally deficient and likely to produce children who would inherit the same condition, etc. . Some people simply should not be allowed to have children and commit them to a lifetime of mysery, confusion and further self-imposed suffering !
