Truck Flips Spilling 55,000 Pounds Of Heineken And Amstel Light Beer Onto I-95 (WATCH)

A semi tractor trailer loaded with gallons and gallons of beer flipped over on I-95 Monday, causing 55,000 pounds of Heineken and Amstel Light to spill onto the highway and the interstate to be closed for almost 7 hours.

According to a Florida Highway Patrol release, the semi tractor trailer, driven by Marcos Martinez, 46, of Miami, was traveling northbound on I-95 in the right lane near LPGA Boulevard in Volusia County.

He told FHP that around 4 a.m., a tractor trailer swerved from the center lane into his lane, forcing him to steer right to avoid impact.

The beer truck entered the east ditch for 660 feet before veering back onto the highway and flipping onto its passenger side. It slid for 200 feet before coming to a stop.

Meanwhile its load of beer scattered across the northbound lanes, spilling thousands of bottles of brew.

Martinez was not injured and the crash is under investigation. FHP troopers told 10 News there were no skid marks on the roadway or witnesses to prove that another truck caused the crash.

The interstate reopened at 10:45 a.m. Monday after all the sticky debris, glass, and beer had been cleared.

"Cleaning up beer, it's kind of really smelly, you know what I mean?" worker Twain Williams told Local 6.
