Great GoogaMooga To Refund ExtraMooga Ticket Holders

ExtraMooga-ers who shelled out $249.50 for VIP tickets to last weekend's The Great GoogaMooga festival can now find vindication in their ill-advised purchase, as organizers have announced ticket holders will receive full refunds for their disappointing experience.

GoogaMooga organizers talked to Time Out about the decision:

Our intentions were to do something great. We were definitely ambitious. But we also wanted to do something top notch. We did not deliver on the promise we made for the ExtraMooga, and that’s why we’re going to make it right.

ExtraMooga was originally advertised as the promise land for foodies, with "all-inclusive food from HEAPING plates" from popular vendors. Instead, the "VIP" were sectioned off to a small number of stands (many which were closed for hours on end) to receive tiny bite-sized plates of food. We overheard many saying they were leaving the fest because they were hungry.

Even the promised access to the Main Stage to watch The Roots and Hall & Oates perform were limited to a small, first-come, first-serve basis.

The two-day festival once hailed as an "amusement park of food and drink" was almost immediately met with a tidal wave of angry foodies waiting on long lines and scrounging for food, taking to Twitter (if spotty cellphone service ever let up) to voice their frustrations.

Among the livid was New York Times film critic A.O. Scott who sounded off at the organizers tweeting, "hey #GoogaMooga: EAT ME."

Even Anthony Bourdain's wife Ottavia tweeted about her dismal experience telling the outside world, "I peed in a cup #GoogaMooga."
