Dan Rather: 2012 Campaign Is 'Worst' I've Seen

Dan Rather delivered a blistering critique of the 2012 presidential campaign on Wednesday, calling it "by far the worst" of the eleven he has covered.

The former "CBS Evening News" anchor was speaking to CNN's Erin Burnett, who had asked him to remark on the state of the campaign.

"There have been bad ones before, but this is by far the worst so far," Rather said. "I think the fact that there were so many debates during the Republican primary contributed to it."

"I hope I'm wrong about this," he continued, "but I think by the time we finish with this campaign, not only will it be a three billion dollar presidential campaign — three billion dollars — but it will be ugly enough to choke a buzzard before we get through with it."

Rather, who has been doing media appearances for his new memoir "Rather Outspoken," has been making headlines as of late. He recently doubled down on the controversial story that led to his firing from CBS News, and spoke out against corporate media.
