Kundalini literally means 'coiled.' In hindu mythology, kundalini is a coiled serpent at the base of your spine that, when awakened, causes spiritual enlightenment. While awakening your kundalini can certainly be a process, watch for a great place to begin!

This is the most absurd thing I have seen in weeks! Thank you to the users who point out the dangers of trying to induce ones own kundalini to awake without the guidance of an awakened guru. What reckless, irresponsible, misinformed "journalism". Get serious.

Kundalini is a spiritual energy which transforms our physical creations into a higher vibration. Everything is energy, including matter. Spiritual energy vibrates at a higher frequency and matter vibrates at a lower frequency. Kundalini energy helps bring these two together. It helps bring the physical vibration up so the high vibration of spirit can move more easily through the physical form. In other words, it will raise the vibration of the physical body so it becomes more accepting of you as spirit. Kundalini energy will translate what you have created in physical matter into spiritual energy. If you have created a healthy body, happiness, etc., it will translate this into a higher vibration. If you have created pain, misery, etc., it will translate this into a higher vibration. This is why people have adverse effects from it. But, under the right circumstances, kundalini is a powerful healing and creative energy. And, is accessible to everyone. But, I recommend that you learn from someone that is experienced. As with anything else, educate yourself first. Learn as much as possible about the energy and the various ways that it is taught (for example, some traditions only run it up the spine, but you can run it through other channels in the body). Always follow your own information about your energy. Use kundalini as a tool to access your own information rather than giving up your seniority to a guru.

Most comments have already mentioned that this is a extremely irresponsible post. Will you be responsible if someone tries what you suggested, and gets his Kundalini awakened? Do you even know what force it is, and what it can do to the one who tries? Sir, please do not apply your 'do-it-yourself' journalism to subjects like these. It takes years and years to first just clear the channels the - left and the right one - through yoga. After Prana begins to flwo from it, the path of Kundalini is opened. It is then when it travels through the Shushmna Nadi (the centre you have shown in your graphics). I won't go into details, but it is a vast subject and should only be done under the supervision of a Guru who already has his Kundalini awakened. People who want to try this, please be aware. The right way to try anything related to Kundalini Yoga is approach someone who has already been through the process in the right way. No one else can guide. If you choose try it on your own, there are many dangers.

Take this off. It takes years of training and guidance to do this right and to actually have the right reasons to do it. It's not viagra and it won't save you from your karma. It's an ancient practice that brings one into a fuller state of the connection between being human and spirit. There are a lot of unbalancing influences right now from solar flairs to war on an energetic level and people should have good guidance in this practice.

How incredibly irresponsible to post this video without a warning about the dangers involved in awakening this powerful energy. One should read "Spiritual Emergency: When Personal Transformation Becomes A Crisis" so as to understand what can happen psychologically. Also read the web page, "The Biology of the Kundalini." Many end up in psych wards because they cannot handle what is happening to them. Read about Gopi Krishna's awakening before one even attempts to raise the Kundalini. She will strip you of everything you thought to be true, she will take down your ego, she will leave you naked and exposed and incredibly vulnerable. Know what you are doing! Kundalini is part of the process of human evolution, not everyone is ready for this. You cannot choose the Kundalini, she must choose you.

What you have written is so true...we in the west have the opinion that "it's all good" w/out the respect,devotion and complete understanding of the latent power that lies w/in us...Kundalini is much more indescribable power than folks think...Gopi Krishna's book was an eye opener back in the day when i desired to release the Kundalini power...even the extreme practice of Zen Koan can lead to "meditation disease"...and many have gone mad practicing the extreme Tibetan Tantras and solitary 3year 3month 3day retreat's...f/f

Many have gone mad having a "spontaneous" awakening! I'm am sickened by this article, "How to....," turning an "awakening" into a simple "recipe," As if following the recipe will awaken the Kundalini (how NAIVE AND IGNORANT! ) The journey towards enlightenment, is the "Pearl of Great Price," not for the faint of heart or soul. Beware fellow travelers, there is a price to pay for this awakening!

Rather than caution those who embark upon awakening their latent energies and creative capacities within the microcosmic orbit, I would STRONGLY caution and advise all seekers and practitioners of mind/energy expansion to first enroll in courses for self defense, law terminology and monetary strategies.

It is not the abundance of ("scary & mysterious") energy within us that one needs to defend against but the very real and visceral ATTACKS from OTHERS that one will face as a result of becoming fully conscious, lucid, loving and creative:

YOU WILL BECOME A TARGET for all of those who do not want to LOSE CONTROL and POWER over others. YOU WILL be perceived as a THREAT to them. YOU WILL be pulled over more frequently by police. YOU WILL be conspired against by co-workers and at risk for termination regardless of talents, fiscal contribution or time at your employer. YOU WILL be clawed at by your spouse or partner, as they struggle to understand how you can feel so peaceful and complete. YOU WILL be taken advantage of by friends, neighbors, strangers and you will never receive an ounce of energy in return because they are not GENERATING their own and CANNOT give back to you even if they wanted to.

These are the EXTERIOR forces to be aware of as you embark on your adventure. I wish it upon no man or woman...

Sorry to inform everybody that as I am not a Hindu, I do not have any kundalini anywhere near my bottom. Amazing the myths that ancient people came up with. I'd love to know who made this one up....And I sure don't want to wake up a snake near my butt. Then again it somebody did get bitten on the butt by a snake, it sure would cause a lot of enlightenment, as you were running screaming down the street!
