Jack Wiseman's Prosthetic Arm Reeled By Fellow Fisher At Boca's Tarpon Tournament Series

HOOKED: Fisherman Reels In Veteran's Arm

One fisherman reeled in the biggest catch of his life over the weekend: a fellow angler’s prosthetic arm.

Jack Wiseman is an amateur fisherman who was invited to participate along with professionals in the Tarpon Tournament Series at Boca Raton Grande Pass, Wink News reports. Wiseman, a former armed services member, bears a prosthetic limb.

The pleasant fishing outing quickly turned sour when Wiseman, attempting to reel in a big one, realized that his metal limb was slipping away. Wiseman recounted, “And all of a sudden the hand snapped off the prosthetic device, still hooked to the rod, and the rod and the reel and the hand went down into the water."

Witness Rudy Salas told CBS, "We watched it happen and we said, 'Did you see that? His arm's gone.'"

But all was not sunk. Later that day, a fellow fisher hooked the same fish that Wiseman had been pursuing. Wiseman was delighted to find out that his rod – and his prosthetic limb – were still attached.
