Ronald Poppo, Face-Chewing Victim In Miami, Attended Stuyvesant High School In New York City

New details have emerged from Saturday's shocking cannibalistic attack in Miami, in which a naked man ate off large portions of a homeless man's face.

It turns out that the victim, 65-year-old Ronald Poppo, was once a New Yorker.

Poppo reportedly attended New York's prestigious Stuyvesant High School, where according to a yearbook obtained by The Miami New Times, he earned a Bronze Scholarship Certificate, was a member of Latin Club, and worked in the school's guidance office.

It's unclear what happened between Poppo's time as a Stuyvesant High attendee and his time as a homeless man in Miami.

Following the bizarre attack, Poppo is now in critical condition at Jackson Memorial Hospital.

31-year-old Rudy Eugene, who allegedly chewed off Poppo's face, was shot to death by Miami police responding to the scene. Investigators are speculating Eugene was under a "cocaine psychosis," fueling the gruesome incident.

An uncensored surveillance video revealed the attack in its entirety and showed a naked Eugene striking Poppo, removing his pants, and then savagely chewing off parts of his face.

Both Eugene and Poppo have a history of run-ins with the law.

Whereas Eugene's arrests were mostly tied to marijuana, Poppo's long list of offenses include drinking in public, assault, trespassing, and burglary.

Sgt. Armando Aguilar, Miami FOP president said of the attack, "He had his face eaten down to his goatee. The forehead was just bone. No nose, no mouth. In my opinion, he just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time."
