A 12-year-old girl from Kansas disappeared Thursday morning with a Canadian man she met while playing an online game.

Around 2 a.m. Thursday morning, Brandy T. Gray left from her home in El Dorado, Kan. Her parents reported her missing roughly 12 hours later, telling authorities she left with 20-year-old Kenneth Stewart McGill, a resident of Ontario, Canada, whom she met on the Internet.

"Since they waited 12 hours, it was hard for us to issue an Amber Alert since it was no longer local [because they drove out of the state]," El Dorado Police Chief Tim Boren told The Huffington Post.

Boren told HuffPost that McGill's car was spotted in Illinois on Thursday afternoon. The chief said his team thinks the two are currently in the Michigan area and suspect McGill may be headed to his home in Ontario.

McGill was driving a white 2006 Chevrolet Impala with Canada license plate number BMZH 238, KAKE reported. He allegedly stole the car from his parents, who told police they thought their son may be suicidal, according to the local broadcaster.

While Boren told HuffPost there was no indication of an intent to harm Gray, he said his department and the girl's parents do consider her in danger.

Boren was not sure what game they were playing when Gray and McGill established contact, but confirmed the two met and corresponded on the Internet before her disappearance.

"We are worried about her. She's 12 and Mr. McGill here is 20, they met over the Internet and that's enough for us to be worried about it and want to find him," Lt. Chad Young with the El Dorado Police Department told KWCH.

The car may have been spotted most recently around Kinyon Lake, Mich., near Interstate 69 on the Canadian border, KAKE reported.

Brandy Gray turns 13 on June 6. She is 5-foot-2-inches tall, has black dyed hair and weighs 120 pounds.

Anyone with information is urged to call 911 immediately.
