John Rocker Voting For Mitt Romney

John Rocker Makes Presidential Endorsement

Former Atlanta Braves Pitcher John Rocker, who infamously made homophobic and racist comments to Sports Illustrated in a 1999 interview, told conservative outlet WND that he will vote for Mitt Romney for president.

Rocker said he is less interested in supporting Romney than he is in voting against President Barack Obama. "It seems that Governor Romney will be getting my vote, although be it somewhat by default. I would vote for the devil himself over Barack Obama which would actually be tough though as he seems to already be a supporter."

In the infamous interview with Sports Illustrated, he was asked how he felt about New York City, and whether he would ever play for the Mets or the Yankees. He said he would never ride the 7 Train to Shea Stadium "next to some queer with AIDS right next to some dude who just got out of jail for the fourth time right next to some 20-year-old mom with four kids." He went on:

The biggest thing I don't like about New York are the foreigners. I'm not a very big fan of foreigners. You can walk an entire block in Times Square and not hear anybody speaking English. Asians and Koreans and Vietnamese and Indians and Russians and Spanish people and everything up there. How the hell did they get in this country?

Major League Baseball ordered Rocker to pay a $500 fine, undergo sensitivity training and handed him a two-week suspension following the comments, which he later apologized for.
