Aretha Franklin Cooking On 'Today': 'Can We Get Some Respect This Morning?' (VIDEO)

WATCH: Aretha Franklin's 'Today' Show Segment Goes Off The Rails

Aretha Franklin stopped by the "Today" show on Monday and ran into some timing issues while sharing her recipe for "Aretha's Peanut Butter Mmm-Mmm-Mmm-Mmm-Mmm Shrimp."

"Today" hosts Natalie Morales and Savannah Guthrie excitedly fired off a few questions to the Queen of Soul before she started to cook. When the hosts turned to focus on the shrimp, Franklin made one thing clear: the Queen cannot be rushed.

"This is going to be less than ten minutes, really," Franklin said of her recipe. Considering that the segment slated was only for four minutes this seemed like good news.

Franklin seemed fixated on the first of three skillets of shrimp. "We only have about a minute and a half left," Morales said, urging Franklin to move on to the next step of the recipe. "Wait a minute, just a moment." Franklin said, still focusing on the first skillet. "A minute and a half? That's all we have?" she asked.

"That's all we got! We gotta see how it ends," Guthrie said. "Well tell NBC to extend the time. We gotta finish this recipe," Franklin joked.

"Let's show some 'R-E-S-P-E-C-T,' okay?" Guthrie jokingly told her producers. "Yes, give us some respect this morning!" Franklin agreed.

Morales then broke out into song. "Just a little bit! Just a little bit," she sang.

Franklin did not acknowledge Morales' singing nor continue with the whole "R-E-S-P-E-C-T" joke, but the segment and shrimp eventually came together in the end.
