Janice Somple Murder Solved When Police Find Her Attacker Dead Of A Heart Attack (VIDEO)

Call it a case of poetic justice.

Police in Simi Valley, Calif. announced Wednesday that the man who murdered beloved retired teacher Janice Somple suffered a fatal heart attack while fleeing the scene.

Sixty-six year-old Paul Porter of Scottsdale, Ariz. was found dead inside his vehicle, which had been involved in a collision, about 1.5 miles away from Somple's home.

During the course of the investigation, Porter was identified as the man who both followed Somple into her home and then drove away from it last Thursday, after she was beaten and stabbed to death.

"We have confirmed that Paul Porter acted alone and was solely responsible for the murder of Janice Somple," said Sgt. Randy Foushee of the Simi Valley Police Department in a press conference. "Detectives were able to positively identify Mr. Porter's truck as the vehicle seen leaving Janice Somple's residence."

Investigators have determined that Porter and Somple once dated, but their relationship ended "in an amicable manner" over 15 years ago. Police are still searching for a motive.

Somple's current boyfriend was the one who found her body.

At the time of her death, Somple, 65, had been busy preparing her home to host her daughter's wedding reception next month, reports KTLA. She had lived in the same home for 35 years, and was a retired teacher from the Conejo Valley Unified School District.
