At least 250 reporters were expected in Bellefonte, Pa. when Jerry Sandusky arrived in court on Tuesday as jury selection began for his sex abuse trial. Although Judge John Cleland had initially indicated that media could report live from the court room, he revoked that capability shortly before jury selection.
Despite this decision there was still plenty of media updates coming from Bellefonte over the course of the first day of jury selection -- when five men and four women were chosen, leaving seven more spots to be filled. Judge Cleland has reportedly said that he wants to start the trial on Monday. The 68-year-old former Penn State assistant football coach is fighting 52 criminal charges for alleged abuse of 10 boys over 15 years, charges which he has denied repeatedly.
