Mika Brzezinski: Republicans Are 'Idiots' For Blocking Paycheck Fairness Act (VIDEO)

WATCH: Mika Rails Against GOP For Blocking Equal Pay

Mika Brzezinski was dismayed by Senate Republicans, who blocked a bill on equal pay for women, on Wednesday.

The Paycheck Fairness Act would have required employers to show that pay differences for male and female employees are not gender-related. The bill failed to pass the Senate on Tuesday, with every single Republican voting against it.

On Wednesday, Brzezinski began "Morning Joe" with the news of the bill's defeat. She looked into the camera with an expression of bewilderment. "Who here at the table is not for paycheck fairness?" she asked.

Contributor Howard Dean said that Republicans didn't care because "they're not gonna win with the women's vote" anyway.

"Seriously," Brzezinski agreed. "Idiots. I'm serious, that is — really, does anyone wanna challenge me on that?"

She turned to Politico's Mike Allen for an explanation of the GOP's vote. He said that Republicans rejected the act because Obama supported it. "That's the bottom line," she remarked. "Pathetic."

Later, she replayed a clip of Harry Reid calling Mitt Romney out for not taking a position the bill. She said she "couldn't agree more" with the criticism.

"This presidency has been working on [equal pay], and Republicans just want to say no," Brzezinski said.

The issue might have hit close to home for the MSNBC host, who experienced her own fight against pay disparity in 2008. She almost left "Morning Joe" after discovering that she was the lowest paid person on the show's panel. At that point, her co-host Joe Scarborough was making fourteen times as much as she was. Later, she was able to re-negotiate the terms of her contract.
