Stanley Cup Final 2012: Dustin Brown Joins Gretzky, Crosby As Captains To Raise Cup (PHOTOS)

NHL Team Captains Raise The Cup In Victory

When Los Angeles Kings winger Dustin Brown lifted up the Stanley Cup following his team's championship-clinching win over the Devils in Game 6, he became just the second American team captain to hoist the cup victoriously overhead.

The Ithaca, N.Y. native joins a select fraternity of NHL captains to have raised the most famous trophy in sports. In his elation, Brown dropped some profanity on live television when asked about the feeling of winning. Thankfully, some of those who have preceded Brown in lifting the Cup have been able to better articulate the feeling of that moment.

"It is a feeling I cannot explain, like seeing the sun coming up in the morning…it's wonderful." – Pavel Datsyuk, Detroit Red Wings
