Syria Hama Massacre: Video Shows Charred Bodies At Hama Massacre Site (WARNING: Graphic Content)

A video posted online by Syrian activists purports to show the aftermath of a pro-Assad attack on the village of Mazraat al-Qubair in Syria’s Hama province. According to the Associated Press, activists say at least 78 people were either stabbed, shot execution-style, or burnt to death.

The videographer documents the destroyed building, his camera aimed at the floor to show the barely discernible bodies over heaps of ash. The remains are crumbled and burnt to the bone -- all but their faces are charred beyond recognition. The man directing the camera frantically repeats “Allahu Akbar,” or “God is great,” as he walks among the dead.

One survivor told Reuters he watched Syrian troops attack the village while hiding in his olive grove.

"There was smoke rising from the buildings and a horrible smell of human flesh burning," he said.

AP reports that the massacre occurred less than two weeks after 108 people were killed in Houla, one of the flashpoints in a wave of violence that has claimed at least 9,000 lives since March 2011, according to U.N. estimates.

Syrian President Bashar Assad’s regime, which denied any role in the Houla massacre, also has rejected claims that it played any part in the carnage near Hama.
