Cilantro Recipes: 30 Ideas For Guacamole, Chimichurri And More

A little bit of fresh herbs can go a long way in a recipe. They pack a ton of flavor, and cilantro is no exception. Its bright and refreshing taste has to ability to liven up a dish with just a sprinkle on top. But this herb can do so much more than garnish dishes. Cilantro is the main ingredient in many sauces served atop grilled meats, it stars in fragrant Thai dishes, and some would argue that it's essential for a good guacamole. Click through the slideshow below for cilantro recipes that showcase its great flavor.

Some like it, some do not. I love the smell, the taste and the fresh look of cilantro. Have prepared salmon with cilantro and it was great! Funny, coincidence in that I was looking on the Internet for more recipes with cilantro today and ran across this. Serendipity at work.

I know cilantro is very popular, but would you believe I have to ask the waiter wherever I go, if
there's cilantro in the dish I choose because the taste makes me want to spit out whatever
I've eaten. Can't explain why I hate it so much...found my own sister has the same
reaction.

It's a genetic thing. To me, it tastes like soap...yuck!

Nasty vile soap weed!! And you know what? It has the same soap taste for everyone, your taste buds and tiny brains just aren't sophisticated enough to tell. Not that I look down on you less evolved creatures.

Why are people always trying to cover up the taste of the food with a hundred different spices and herbs?

The reason why Indian food is spicy, is not because they like spices, but because not all the food is fresh on their markets and the spicy hides the rotten food taste.

I prefer Lemon and robusto dressing that is amazing on anything

Well, well you know the Chef? isn't Mexican. My wife and in-laws use cilantro with pollo all the time. Mexicans use cilantro in a lot of good flavorfull dishes. Then also Limon, you call them limes.

It is funny that you would word it like it was an odd pairing. Those two herbs are from the same plant.
12:26 PM on 06/13/2012
Yes, that's what I thought. In Europe, the plant is called coriander not cilantro.

A truly beguiling skinless boneless chicken breast recipe has as a secret a brushing of glace de veau before being dusted with seasoned flour, then egg wash and panko. Saute until brown in regular olive oil on both sides before putting in a 285 degree oven for 20 minutes.

Okay, it's official - I'm hungry now.

One thing I've noticed about cilantro is that it is either loved or hated. There seems to be little middle ground with this herb. I love the stuff, but it's easy to use too much and overpower a dish. A little goes a long way.

Insert something clever here.

Apparently it has been found that some people are genetically predisposed to disliking cilantro, that it taste like soap to them. So it's not a matter of simply disliking, but it actually does taste bad. Personally we love the stuff in my house and use it quite a bit.

I remember the first time I tried cilantro, without knowing it, I was about 12. I thought soap had gotten into the food. Now I love it, but I know several people who have an aversion to it.

I'm actually about to go out for noodles in Thai Town! Exta cilantro please.

Funny how so many equate the taste of cilantro to the taste of soap. Personal taste buds have individual reactions to a certain food or spice.

We all have our pleasures and disdains. That's the fun of trying different dishes.

Enjoy your meal tonight! Bon appetit.
