7-11 Employee Loses Bag Of Cash On Highway

WASHINGTON -- Here's a good lesson: Remove sacks of cash from the top of your SUV before driving onto the highway.

A Maryland convenience store employee reportedly placed a light red sack of money marked "7-11" on top of his car early Thursday morning. Then he drove off.

Maryland State Police issued a notice Thursday asking for help locating the "bank bag containing a large amount of cash."

The employee told police he believed he lost it on Thursday at about 5:45 a.m., along northbound Interstate 97 in Anne Arundel County, not far from where Maryland's newest casino, Maryland Live!, opened to the public on Wednesday night. A police officer went to look for the bag about 15 minutes later, but didn't find it.

Maryland State Police spokesman Greg Shipley told The Huffington Post that investigators are withholding the exact amount lost "as part of their investigation." Shipley also said that, even with the proximity to the casino, investigators "interviewed enough people" who corroborated the employee's account to believe "this actually occurred."

One person on Twitter thinks that something other than cash may have been lost with this incident:

Police are asking anyone with information about the location of this bank bag -- or anyone who has some of the missing cash -- to contact Maryland State Police at the Glen Burnie Barrack at (410) 761-5130.
