A zombie apocalypse is nigh, at least if you're in San Diego. As part of the 2012 San Diego Comic-Con, people can pay to be chased by zombies. For real.
According to the Los Angeles Times, for $70 you can be chased by a zombie mob as part of a "Walking Dead" tie-in with Comic-Con held at Petco Park in San Diego from July 12-14. It's not just running, there will be obstacles that will require participants to run, hide, slide, crawl and maneuver away from the living dead. Well, the fake living dead. The official site lists average course completion time at about 35-45 minutes, but the event is not timed and not a race.
“We wanted fans to experience -- as closely as possible -- the end of the world,” Robert Kirkman, "The Walking Dead" mastermind, said.
"The Walking Dead" has become AMC's biggest hit. Starring Andrew Lincoln, Sarah Wayne Callies and Laurie Holden, the cable series follows a group of survivors as they try and live life after a zombie outbreak. The Season 2 finale of the series had about 9 million viewers, shattering the network's previous records.

The goal is to make it to the Evacuation Zone without having contact with any Walkers.
Be aware, the Government believes infection can be spread by touch.
Government Scientists will be waiting at the Evacuation Zone, and will perform a scan to determine whether or not participants have been infected by the virus.
You must start with your assigned Evacuation time in order to participate.
All participants are expected to be respectful, safe, and courteous on the course and to fellow participants. The course was designed to create a fun experience; common sense applies.
All entries are final with no refunds.
All decisions by officials are final and binding.
