Dylan Ratigan On Leaving MSNBC: 'I Can Spend The Next Months Looking For A Plan For Whatever Is Next'

MSNBC host Dylan Ratigan took a moment to address his upcoming departure with his viewers on Monday.

News broke on Sunday that Ratigan, who has been with MSNBC for three years, will be leaving the network next month. Ratigan's final show will air on Friday, June 22. MSNBC's Martin Bashir, who hosts the 3:00 p.m. hour, will extend his show to cover Ratigan's 4:00 p.m. hour following his departure.

"For me, the opportunity over the next months to learn from those that are leading us to reveal new ways to get a lot more for a lot less...I have really no choice for me to learn more about it," Ratigan told his viewers. "You can't do the show and do both at the same time."

He added, "I can spend the next months looking for a plan for whatever is next."

He took a moment to personally thank his viewers. "To those of you at home, I thank you for educating me," he said. "Thank you for the opportunity to attempt to express some of the points of view that we've had the ability to communicate."

Ratigan further discussed his exit in a blog for The Huffington Post. "While it may seem unconventional to leave a rapidly growing political cable show on the eve of a presidential election, to me, the timing couldn't be better," he wrote.
