Kate Walsh is leaving "Private Practice."
On Bethenny Frankel's new talk show, "Bethenny," Walsh told the audience, "This is my last season for 'Private Practice.'" As the crowd booed, Walsh added, "It’s been an incredible journey and an amazing ride … It’s bittersweet. It's a huge chapter of my life.”
Walsh has played Dr. Addison Montgomery for seven years -- the character spun off from "Grey's Anatomy" and then left Seattle Grace for her own practice in LA. At the end of May, Deadline reported that Walsh's deal was up at the end of Season 5, but she agreed to sign on for 13 more episodes.
ABC renewed "Private Practice" for a Season 6 with 13 episodes and many expected that it would be the medical drama's last. Series creator Shonda Rhimes recently told TV Guide Magazine that just because the new season was only 13 episodes, doesn't mean it's the end.
"I have been told that I'm not allowed to think of us only doing 13 episodes," Rhimes told TV Guide Magazine. Season 6 will look a little different, series co-star Tim Daly will not be part of the show. Rhimes said it was because of budget reasons.
"There's a lot of budgetary issues on that show," Rhimes said. "We need to make sure the show is viable and that we can produce it. I feel as though Tim's character had a wonderful journey."
