In Colorado Focus Group, Obama Voters Disillusioned

Last night, veteran Democratic pollster Peter Hart conducted a focus group featuring 12 undecided, ticket-splitting voters in Colorado, which illustrated the tough challenge President Obama faces in winning a second term. He's lost significant ground among these swing voters: Ten of the participants voted for Obama in 2008; only three of them said they leaned towards re-electing him in 2012. In an initial survey taking leaners into account, Mitt Romney led Obama 5-3, with four completely undecided.

Maybe people have woken up from drinking the Obama Koolaid! Also, How can communities, and states maintain fat union pensions when taxes keep going up? (Everyone knows that the last 5 years and lots of padded OT make fat pensions. 95% of costs in taxes are to sustain these pensions and raises etc. When your real estate values decline, yet taxes go up, you wonder why treasuries are going broke and people too.. Everybody else in the private sector contributes to benefits and 401Ks if they aren't already unemployed. Unions were formed during the industrial revolution long ago and those days when times were different are long gone.

I wish the President wouldn't compromise so much, but pragmatically, I see why he does. I could be disillusioned if I couldn't look back,and see that behind everything the President tries is a GOP/TPer bunch saying NO. He is trying to govern within the rules that the rest of the gov't have handed him. If the President was the dictator the rightwingnuts say, we wouldn't have these issues.

this puppet-show''s being run by whomever has the most cash, no matter who is in the white house. don't delude yrselves into thinking that democracy is in fact, intact, because only the plutocracy is in control. there's been a coup d'etate and most people aren''t even aware of it. it happened sometime in clinton-bush years, there's probably a date but you won't find it in wikipedia. until rampant corruption is cleaned up : the lobbies, citizen's united, until the official conduits for corporate bribery are banished, the plutocracy will reign. n other words, unless this broken republic is resurrected, democracy by and for the people is impossible

The only time I have worked for a Candidate since Nixon, was in 2008 for Obama. He has turned out to be too ready to die Compromising with the Republicans, rather than draw a line in the sand over things like the debt Ceiling and his Jobs Bill. He has refused to bypass Congress when he knew that nothing would be passed, even with a Majority on his side. He has played it all like a Gentleman, which he is. But the Republicans have no goal but to remove him. They don't care about the American Worker. So we all lose!!

Reading some of the posts here I have come across a few who say "not voting!" or "I am voting Green or for a 3rd party!"

Well, okay, you can do whatever you please! However, "not voting!" means that you do not care about the direction the U.S. will go; that you do not care who is in charge and what their values are. You do not care about your country. That is apathy, and apathetic people are the people who REALLY DO HURT our Nation! I would rather you be a raging Conservative & Liberal than an apathetic citizen!

Also, a vote for a 3rd party Green, etc., is a VOTE FOR ROMNEY.

Good comment on voter apathy....Let's hope political apathy doesn't paralyze the Democratic Party any more than it has. There seemed to be abundant resources available to bail out criminal bankers and investment fund managers, but the biggest drag on our economy, the housing market, has received only token attention. Millions of Americans are stuck in under water mortgages and the foot dragging by the Obama Administration has left many home owners desparate for legislative action to help get their mortgages re-financed. The Wall Street bunch was rescued by their "buddy" Tim Geithner. Everyday Americans struggling to keep their homes and jobs intact have been ignored. President Obama is likable and gives great speeches, but don't allow him to shirk his responsibility to help the Americans who don't have an army of lobbyists, and who were hurt the most by the greed and corruption that permeates the financial sector.

Pres. Obama's hands have been tied for quite some time, some think he was a magician coming into the White House with a magic wand! Anyone who has been paying attention will know that the Housing Crisis is a lot more complicated than we think. I agree that Tim Geithner is no friend to Middle Class Americans, but you have to play the game in Washington. Fact is some Americans got greedy and bought homes when they had no business buying them. Believe me the housing market will rebound, and some of those folks underwater will have a chance to sell or at least work things out. This is a very complex issue, one I have little time to discuss here. Have a nice day!

I don't believe these numbers. As a Coloradian, I have pounded lots of pavement for our President, being a delegate for my county I have talked with many people and this guys numbers and mine do not mesh....Colorado will be a blue state again this election.

This snippet of a story about voter disillusion coming out of Colorado (A focus group!) seems to have caught the attention of all the Republican, Independents, DINOs to this story. Like Sharks and Vultures they have come to feed on the red meat that has been thrown their way: "COLORADO FOCUS GROUP, OBAMA VOTERS DISILLUSIONED" is music to their ears.
They are throwing the book at him. No faith, no loyalty, no hope, no sticking with the team at all. But as they say, you can't please EVERYBODY. They will pick out something they didn't get, or focus on one pimple and spite their face. Sigh. Anyway, I will console myself by reading and looking at all the comments of those who defend this Administration and Obama, here and elsewhere to get the true temperature of the water out there, I hear the water is fine. I know it is.

I have been disappointed that Obama won't draw a line in the sand with the Republicans. I think that we all watched him attempt to compromise, repeatedly, and get sucked in and spit out. Carville I kinda like. I think that it is his bluntness. Obama is more detached, a Chess Player, to Carville's Checkers.
