BELLEFONTE, Pa. -- A Centre County jury on Thursday heard horrific and graphic testimony about the alleged rape of a young teen by former Penn State assistant football coach Jerry Sandusky.
"He started getting physical, like having me touch his penis and stuff. He made me give him a, suck his penis is how you'd put it. He came in my room, pulled his pants down, laid on top of me, and kind of forced it in," witness No. 9 told the jury in some of the most graphic testimony to date. "He put his penis in my butt," he added.
The names of the witnesses are being withheld, although they are testifying in open court.
Witness No. 9 said he was between 13 and 15 the first time Sandusky raped him. Weighing less than 70 pounds at the time, he said there was nothing he could do.
"What was I going to do? Look at him, he is a big guy, he was bigger than me at the time, way bigger ... There was no fighting against it," he said.
The witness is now 18 and recently graduated high school, but said he vividly remembers being anally raped by Sandusky.
"He got real aggressive and forced me into it," he said, adding that he was forced to have sex with Sandusky on more than one occasion.
Like the accusers who testified before him, witness No. 9 met Sandusky through the Second Mile, Sandusky's charity. He said he was about 12 when they met and stayed over at Sandusky's home dozens of times. The alleged rape was precipitated by Sandusky "hugging and kissing me and stuff," the witness said.
Asked by prosecutor Joseph McGettigan III why he did not tell anyone about the alleged rapes, the witness said, "He was an important guy, everybody knew him, he was a football coach."
It was not until news of Sandusky's November 2011 arrest that witness No. 9’s mother contacted police and he told the district attorney's office what happened, he said.
When asked to point to the person in the courtroom that he is accusing, No. 9 pointed toward Sandusky without looking at the ex-coach. "Can you look at him?" McGettigan said, to which he replied, "I don't want to look at him."
During cross-examination by defense attorney Joe Amendola, witness No. 9 was asked if Sandusky had anal sex with him and whether or not he had bled. The alleged victim replied in the affirmative to both questions. Asked if his mom had noticed blood in his underwear he said, no. He also said he did not seek medical attention.
"I just dealt with it. I never told anybody, I didn't even tell my own mom. I just deal with things in my own way," he said.
Witness No. 9 did, however, say he had cried out for help on at least one occasion when he and Sandusky were in the basement and when Sandusky's wife, Dottie, was upstairs, but said nothing happened. Witness No. 9 testified that he believed Sandusky's basement is "sound-proof."
After the teen testified, the trial was recessed until Monday, when the defense is expected to present its case.
Sandusky faces 52 criminal counts related to the alleged sexual assaults of 10 boys over a 15-year period. McGettigan has referred to Sandusky as a "serial predator." Sandusky maintains his innocence and his attorney has suggested the witnesses have financial motives behind their accusations.
