Baby Preston, Chimp Play Through Glass At Sedgwick County Zoo In Kansas (VIDEO)

WATCH: Baby And Chimp Become BFFs

When baby Preston went to the zoo, he probably had no idea he'd be making friends with a chimp. But that's precisely what he did, and there's video evidence to prove it.

A grandparent captured the 6-month-old playing with a young chimp through a protective glass at Sedgwick County Zoo in Wichita, Kan.

The experience seemed to be equally entertaining for both youngsters, who curiously examined each other while flailing their arms.

And although the chimp gets a bit frustrated by the transparent barrier, nothing's to say it's not plotting an epic escape, preferably on the back of a pig.

Several memorable animal-baby encounters have surfaced on YouTube in recent months. And while the creature usually does its best to make contact with its target, these brave babies surprisingly hold their ground.

Take Sofia, for example: The young girl barely flinched when a large lion pounced on the glass at New Zealand's Wellington Zoo. In fact, the incident led media organizations to call her "Sofia The Lion Tamer."

In April, a young boy named Jack visited the Oregon Zoo dressed in a black-and-white striped outfit resembling a zebra. Blissfully unaware of the lioness behind him, the child sat on the floor as the animal ferociously pawed at the the glass behind him.

Correction: A previous version of this article incorrectly referred to the chimp as a monkey.
