Take Back Your Wedding: HuffPost Weddings Launches Movement For Couples

Has Your Wedding Been Hijacked? Tell Us About It!

Congratulations, you're engaged! Now begins the process of planning the wedding of your dreams, right? Not exactly.

Ever since you and your spouse-to-be spread the happy news, you've probably been inundated with opinions from relatives, vendors, friends, even Pinterest about what your Big Day should look like. You may even be wondering if you're planning the wedding of other people's dreams.

Maybe you wanted a low-key backyard BBQ wedding and you've been pushed into having a cookie-cutter ballroom fete with a huge guest list of your parents' friends; maybe your diva wedding planner persuaded you to sign on for the venue, flower, or party favor du jour even though you knew in your heart it wasn't what you wanted (or needed).

Does this sound familiar? If your wedding is at risk of being hijacked –- or if you already got married and felt like it wasn't really your own -- we want to know about it for a new Huffington Post Weddings series, Take Back Your Wedding. In the coming weeks, we'll be featuring your stories on Huffington Post Weddings as part of the TBYW project.

Send your stories to weddings@huffingtonpost.com, or tweet @HuffPostWedding with the hashtag #takebackyourwedding. We can't wait to hear from you!
