• Cabana Bliss, London West Hollywood Hotel

With its nautical color theme and cozy cabanas the pool area at the London West Hollywood Hotel is one of the top spots in the city to while away the hours on a hot summer day. The 10th floor rooftop pool offers stunning 360-degree views of the city. Grab a cocktail, cool down with a chilled lavender-scented washcloth and snack on bites from Rooftop, the poolside eatery from celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay. If you're really looking to spurge, shell out for one of the four cabanas. At around $275 for six hours, you'll be lounging in luxury.

  • Moroccan Magic, Figueroa Hotel

The Moroccan-themed Figueroa Hotel makes guests feel as if they have been transported to Marrakesh the instant they walk through the ornate front door. As you explore deeper through the arched halls you won't want to miss the hotel's lush courtyard pool.

  • Hollywood Classic, The Beverly Hills Hotel and Bungalows

Celebrating its 100th anniversary, The Beverly Hills Hotel and Bungalows is steeped in Hollywood history. With its classic brick deck and striped chaise lounges, the feel and look of the hotel's pool is timelessly cool. The "Pink Palace" is home to 21 private cabanas, is surrounded by towering palm trees, and known for its five-star service.

  • Tip Top Shape, Hotel Sangri-La

This 1939 Art Deco hotel is typically praised for its Tamie Adaya-design interiors (the hotel went through a major renovation in 2008), but the outdoor Courtyard is deserving of some attention as well. Featuring a tiered pool area and nautical decor elements, Hotel Shangri-La has quickly become a local favorite. Weekend DJs make sure the party keeps going all summer long.

  • Stunning Sunsets, SLS Hotel at Beverly Hills

This Philippe Starck-designed hotel is known for it's love affair with excess (it was recently named one of California Home+Design's 50 Best Designed Hotels). With floating chaise lounges, oversize vases and massive frames reflecting the surrounding views from every angle the SLS Hotel pool in Beverly Hills is a feast for the senses and sun-worshipers. The area features two pools--a 4-foot deep plunge pool and a 1-foot deep reflecting pool for sunbathing.

  • Private Party, Thompson Beverly Hills

If luxe is your thing, head to the Swarovski crystal studded heated swimming pool at the Thompson Beverly Hills, where the decor is just as sexy as the young crowd you'll find lounging nearby. Once the sun goes down, head to the ABH lounge (a monicker standing for "Above Beverly Hills," paying homage to the surrounding 360-degree views), and sip a vodka-spiked Spicy Thyme Lemonade.

  • Curves Ahead, Hotel Wilshire

Another new kid on the block, Hotel Wilshire opened late last year, garnering the attention of design enthusiasts thanks to its excellent pedigree: It was designed by Killefer Flammang Architects and KNA Design. The 74-room boutique hotel features a poolside lounge and private cabanas.

  • Sky Blue, Mondrian Los Angeles

After a recent "beautification" project to refresh the space, the pool and outdoor living room at the luxury Mondrian Los Angeles reopened in early May, just in time for summer. The pool is known for its panoramic views and posh vibe. Get the party going at the overlooking, open-air Skybar, designed by Tim Andreas of Banjo.
