Emma Roberts Says 'Fifty Shades Of Grey' Role 'Sounds Awesome'

Casting directors take note: Emma Roberts is completely game to take on the racy role of Anastasia Steele in the forthcoming film adaptation of the best-selling BDSM trilogy "Fifty Shades of Grey."

Roberts is just one of many young actresses who have thrown their hats in the ring for the coveted role of a naive college graduate who falls in love with dashingly handsome billionaire Christian Grey.

MTV News caught up with the 21-year-old actress at a recent event in New York City, and though Roberts is interested, she might want to read the book first.

"Everyone says read 'Fifty Shades of Grey.' I don't really understand," Roberts told MTV. "But everyone on the plane was reading it, and I was like, 'I should probably just get it.' "

Though she hasn't read the book, Roberts has heard the buzz around the steamy S&M sex scenes that prevail throughout the novels and said they wouldn't bother her one bit.

"I haven't read it, I don't even understand, but yeah, it sounds awesome. Anything racy, hot," she said. "Sure, let's get hot."

Roberts joins the likes of other actresses, such as "Pretty Little Liars" co-stars Ashley Benson and Lucy Hale, who are also very interested in what's becoming one of Hollywood's most coveted roles.

And Roberts, Hale and Benson may not be so happy to learn that Kristen Stewart has also hopped on the "Fifty Shades of Grey" bandwagon. In an interview with Moviefix in Australia, the actress admitted she had finally started to read the book, which initially started out as "Twilight" fan fiction.

“I’m reading it, man,” Stewart told Moviefix, but said she has to finish the book before she'd consider showing interest in the leading role.

There is so much competition and so much buzz, but there's at least one actress in Hollywood who has no intention of going out for the part. Selena Gomez parodied the book in a Funny or Die skit, but she's not as ready as Roberts to get so racy.

"I know I'm taking risks but I don't think I could do that," Gomez told MTV News at the launch of her debut fragrance, when asked if she was interested in being cast in the film. "That would be a little too much for me."
