'Hollywood Treasure': George Takei Is Brought In To Authenticate A 'Star Trek' Phaser (VIDEO)

George Takei: Is This A Phaser I See Before Me?

On the latest episode of "Hollywood Treasure" (Tue., 10 p.m. ET on Syfy) Joe Amendola had what looked like an original "Star Trek" phaser.

If authentic it could be worth a fortune, since there are believed to be fewer than 10 of the used phasers still in existence.

So, who better to assess the item and determine if it was real than "Star Trek" star George Takei?

Lt. Hikaru Sulu fired a good few phasers in his day, and Takei showed he hadn't lost his touch as he attached the phaser to his top using the handy velcro strip on the back.

"It looks very real," Takei said.

With his stamp of approval, the phaser was sent to auction where it was sold for a whopping $65,000.

The treasure-hunting continues on "Hollywood Treasure," Tuesdays at 10 p.m. ET on Syfy.
