Key lime pie is arguably the perfect summertime desert. It's rich and creamy, tart and sweet; and if you eat it chilled (or better yet, frozen), infinitely refreshing on a hot day. But the key lime shouldn't be pigeonholed into this one dessert. From cupcakes to donuts to ice cream, its prominent aroma works beautifully in many sweet recipes. The key lime is smaller than regular limes and has a stronger flavor that's hard to beat. But if you cannot find them, you can always substitute with conventional limes.
