Jesus Rodriquez Says Man Who Stole HIs Truck Dumped Phyllis Cotton's Body On His Property

Stolen Truck Returned With Dead Body Inside

A Florida man claims that a woman's body found near his home was left there by a thief returning his stolen truck.

On Wednesday, police released a statement saying the woman wrapped in plastic and dumped early Monday morning was 29-year-old Phyllis Cotton. Her body was left near the Homestead home of Jesus Rodriguez around 2:30 a.m. as police were investigating his complaint that someone stole his truck.

The apparent thief returned with the vehicle and was seen disposing of the woman's body when Rodriguez said he and police confronted him.

"He brought the truck back to the vacant lot next door. I came out with my gun drawn. The police saw me and together we went up and we saw the body in two plastic bags. The guy took off running and both of us pursued," Rodriguez told ABCNews.

Rodriguez claims that his truck keys were stolen about three weeks ago. He says that some mornings he would find the gasoline gauge lower than he left it the night before, leading him to believe that someone was using his vehicle, Ninesman reported.

The Miami-Dade Police Department is now handling the investigation.
