With temperatures rising in New York on Wednesday, the bats of the Yankees and Braves caught fire. The teams combined for nine home runs in a matinee game, tying a Yankee Stadium record for most homers in a game. The visiting Braves emerged as 10-5 victors, avoiding a series sweep.
With Atlanta leading 6-2 in the bottom of the fifth, Jayson Nix made a bid for yet another longball. He drove a pitch from Tommy Hanson pitch deep to right field, sending Braves outfielder Michael Bourn back to the warning track. Bourn called off Jayson Heyward and made an incredible leaping catch at the wall. While Nix's drive may have not been on its way out of the park -- it looks like maybe it would have hit high on the wall -- Bourn robbed an extra-base hit and kept the Yanks from mounting a rally.
