Aaron Sorkin Talks 'The Newsroom,' His Daughter (VIDEO)

What Project Is Aaron Sorkin Most Proud Of?

"The show's got one foot in reality and one foot in this romantic wish-fulfillment fantasy," award-winning screenwriter Aaron Sorkin said of his latest project, "The Newsroom," in an interview with Savannah Guthrie of "The TODAY Show."

Sorkin is following up his successful "The West Wing" and "The Social Network" with a new show about the world of cable news. It premieres this Sunday, June 24 on HBO. When asked if he was nervous about how his latest project would fare, Sorkin responded with an emphatic yes: "You can't even imagine!"

The two also discussed Sorkin's 2001 arrest for cocaine possession. "I've always wanted people to know me as 'the guy who writes those things,'" he said. "And not know the real me. And when I was arrested, it felt like we were drawing back the curtain."

The conversation brightened when the topic of his daughter, Roxy, came up. Sorkin said she's the audience he’s most concerned about pleasing now that she’s old enough to start watching some of his work.

"It's kind of frightening," he admitted to Guthrie. "I really want her to like it, and I'm worried she's going to be a little bit bored."

Check out the video above to hear more from Sorkin and the project he's "most proud of."
