WASHINGTON -- The creator of "All In The Family," "Good Times," "The Jeffersons" and more sitcoms that shaped the American television landscape, Norman Lear, celebrated his 90th birthday Thursday night at the Kennedy Center.

Surrounded by fellow progressives of all ages, the birthday boy enjoyed an evening with the 6th Annual Convening of the Young Elected Officials Network.

Hosted by the People For the American Way Foundation, an organization Lear co-founded with Barbara Jordan, the event drew a handful of celebrities, both of the Hollywood and D.C. persuasion.

Guests mingled, snapped inevitable Facebook photos and dined on finger foods. Lear, naturally, was the star of the hour, surrounded by friends like Kathleen Turner, Jane Lynch, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and more.
