Seven Airlines Americans Love

The Airlines Americans Love

Evidently, some airlines are actually enjoyable.

Despite a few public relations disasters over the past year, American Airlines and JetBlue ranked among those airlines with the highest levels of customer satisfaction, according to the latest American Customer Satisfaction Index for airlines. The survey interviews roughly 70,000 customers annually to determine the companies Americans most prefer.

Last year's favorite, Southwest Airlines, fell out of the top spot despite enjoying its 39th straight year of profitablilty, Slate reports. Taking its place is newcomer to the ACSI, JetBlue, which has been praised for its customer satisfaction for eight consecutive years by J.D. Power and Associates.

JetBlue made headlines this year for negative reasons too, after pilot Clayton Osbon flew into a rage while flying in March, "yelling about September 11th, Iraq, Iran, Afghanistan, al-Qaida and terrorists," according to a lawsuit filed against JetBlue. The episode came just weeks after a flight attendant on an American Airlines flight made a similar rant about the plane crashing.

The episode isn’t the airline’s biggest problem, however. Currently in bankruptcy, American Airlines may soon be bought out by U.S. Airways, according to 24/7 Wall St.
