'Jeopardy!' host Alex Trebek has been hospitalized after suffering a heart attack Saturday. The 71-year-old television personality was taken to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles and remained under observation Sunday, The Wrap reports.
Sony, which produces the show, released a statement which said Trebek was in good spirits. He is expected to recover in time to begin filming the show's upcoming 29th season. Filming is slated for July.
Here is Sony's statement, via THR: “Trebek is in good spirits and is currently under observation and undergoing further testing. He is expected to fully recover and be back at Jeopardy! when production begins taping in July for the new season, the show's 29th.”
Trebek also suffered a heart attack in 2007. That incident was also mild in nature, and the host was soon back at work. More recently, he injured his Achilles tendon while chasing down a burglar in July of last year.
