7 Crochet Bags That Aren't Just For Hipsters

Crochet bags make me think of two things: hanging fruit and vegetables in my grandmother's kitchen, and sweaty hipsters at music festivals.

The open knit takes its name from the French word for "hook" because, like knitting, crocheting is a process of creating loops by pulling thread through other loops. (On a side note, my grandmother taught me to knit when I was younger and I made my dad the most hideous pink and red tie.)

Grannies use them for shopping trips to the market, and hipsters like them for their bohemian style. We fall somewhere in the middle, and are just happy to be able to see the contents of our bottomless purses (and all women know what a pain it is to dig endlessly through your bag). And don't discount the fact that their malleable form makes it easy to stuff them into a bike basket, other tote, or trunk of your car.

Here, seven crochet bags to lighten your load this summer.
