Hodgkin's Lymphoma Patient Jake Bouma, 28, Learns That He Is Cancer-Free (VIDEO)

In this moving video, watch as 28-year-old Jake Bouma finds out he's cancer-free.

Bouma, who lives in Des Moines, Iowa, was diagnosed with Hodgkin's lymphoma this February. Since then, he's endured punishing chemotherapy treatments and their often painful -- and frustrating -- side effects.

Over the last few months, Bouma has painstakingly documented his road to recovery on his blog as a way to share his experiences with others.

On June 23, he finally had some good news for his readers: "I am essentially cancer free(!)," declared the title of his latest blog post.

In the video clip, which will be part of a documentary called 'Let's Do This: Facing Hodgkin Lymphoma,' directed by Bouma's friend Nathan Matta, Bouma and his wife, Libby, meet their oncologist to discuss the results of his latest PET scan.

"They're gone," Libby said as they looked -- shocked -- at the scan which showed no sign of cancerous activity. "Holy crap."

According to Bouma's doctors, the young man has displayed a "complete response" to chemotherapy.

"I don't even know how to begin thanking everyone for their love, support, prayers and encouragement through this process. It was and continues to be an immeasurable source of strength for both Libby and I," he wrote in his blog post.

"Radiation isn't exactly a walk in the park (so I'm told), but there's no way it can be worse than chemo," he wrote, referring to the radiation treatments that still lay ahead of him.

"Let's do this."
