A small boy in South Florida helped arrest three burglars robbing his home, although 911 dispatchers very nearly thought his call for help was a hoax.
Luis Gutierrez, Jr., 11, was home alone in Hollywood while his parents stepped out briefly on an errand when burglars broke into his house.

In the 911 audio obtained from ABC News, the operator asks the boy, "Is the person inside the house?" Luis, hiding under his bed, replies with a polite "Yes, ma'am" before squeaking out a worried, "Can you please come?"
At one point in the call, the operator can be heard telling someone nearby that she's not sure if the call is real. Hearing this, Luis cries out quietly, "It's real! It's real!" and the operator dispatches Hollywood Police to the scene.
Responding officers rescued Luis through a bedroom window before arresting the burglars inside.
The suspects were charged with burglary of an occupied structure, grand theft, and possession of burglary tools, ABC News reports.
“He was a brave little kid,” Hollywood spokeswoman Lt. Nikki Coffin told the Miami Herald.
But Luis also had the support of his canine and his father. According to the South Florida Sun Sentinel, before crawling under the bed Luis grabbed his dog, Cookie, and called his dad, who told him to call 911.
Oddly enough, earlier that same day another preteen in Broward County had to call 911 for the same reason.
Alexis Stannis, 13, and her 10-year-old brother Darren called 911 from a closet in their Pompano Beach home after burglars broke in, according to a Broward Sheriff's Office press release.
BSO reports that the burglars first knocked, a method often used before home break-ins to determine if the house is empty.
“We can no longer tell our children not to answer the door if Mom and Dad aren’t home,” Sheriff Al Lamberti said in the release. “They should never open the door to strangers, but they have to let criminals know that somebody is home. And they should call 9-1-1 like Alexis. ”
