Silverdocs Best Of Fest: HuffPost DC Top 5 For June 25

TOP 5 FOR MONDAY, JUNE 25

1. Silverdocs Best Of Fest Screenings At AFI Silver Spring
See all of the films local media has been raving about for good reason. Shorts and features throughout the day and night. If you only spend one day at the movies this year, make it today. Screenings begin at 11:30 a.m. and run until 8:45 p.m., all ages, $13 per film

2. Little Spoons Comedy Showcase At Blind Dog Cafe
The third installment of this monthly comedy showcase will feature seven female comics. The one we're excited to see is improvisor, sketch performer and stand up Sara Armour. 7 p.m., all ages, no cover

3. Yappy Hour At Cantina Marina
Free-flowing booze will hopefully inspire some loving individuals to adopt some pups. 5 p.m., 21+, no cover

4. The Torches At Fort Reno
The Torches are a good fit for any outdoor, well-lit concert situation. The six-member indie folk group will definitly utilize their surroundings and stretch out on a stage able to hold all of the members. 7 p.m., all ages, no cover

5. La-Ti-Do At Black Fox
This cabaret show is celebrating its six-month anniversary with a best of show. Singing, storytelling, poetry, the works. A classy, bohemian way to start the working week. 8 p.m., 21+, $10

TOP 5 FOR THE NEXT 5 DAYS

Tuesday, June 26
Reel Big Fish, Goldfinger
at 9:30 Club
Because when "Everything Sucks" "Here In Your Bedroom," sometimes you just have to "Fly." We know Sugar Ray isn't performing on this bill, it just seems like they should. Also, all the bands that weren't super sad in the 90s are still touring and having fun. Take that, heroin.

Wednesday, June 27
America Hearts Singles Club
at Black Cat
The very good D.C. band's singles series ends with "Country," an E.P. about drinking, dogs and the road. Openers The Mean Season are a can't miss and between band DJ sets from We Fought The Big One make this a well rounded conclusion to the series.

Thursday, June 28
Date DCarts
at Ted's Bulletin, Atlas Performing Arts Center, Smith Commons
Dinner, a show, cocktails and a party, all planned well in advance, all taken care of once tickets are purchased. Ideal for the adventurous but indecisive.

Friday, June 29
Aisha Tyler
at DC Improv
One of the few reasons to watch "The Talk" and one of the many reasons to watch "Archer," Tyler may be one of the only standups that draws equally well with house wives and comic book nerds. Funny and universal without cow towing, she's rare.

Saturday, June 30
Iron Maiden, Alice Cooper
at Jiffy Lube Live
Because it's fun to act out scenes from "Wayne's World."
