The eccentric 11-year-old daughter of superstar couple Will Smith and Jada Pinkett-Smith has shocked us in the past with her multi-colored shaved hair and head-turning wardrobe. But Willow's latest attention-grabbing statement had us really concerned.
Perhaps in a show of tween rebellion, the "Whip My Hair" singer posted a picture via Instagram of herself and a friend showing off what looked to be real piercings. Willow poses with her mouth open and a silver ball on her tongue, while her friend sports a silver chin stud.
Willow's fans and followers went crazy after seeing the photo.
"That awkward moment when you find out Willow Smith has a tongue piercing. She's 11," one person tweeted.
Let's not forget the presumed lack of parental guidance in this situation. Another person chimed in on Twitter to point a finger at Will and Jada, tweeting: "Willow Smith is 11 and has a tongue ring. WHERE ARE HER PARENTS?"
As cool as Will and Jada may seem, it's hard to believe they would green-light this venture -- and they would have to under California state underage piercing laws.
Thankfully they didn't. Just as the hoopla surrounding the pic reached a fever pitch, Willow admitted the piercing was just a hoax: "It's fake... Sorry," she added to the Instagram photo.
Phew! We're relieved -- are you?

Im sure if she gets fake breast or a fake butt, you same people will still defend Will & Jada. Im learning that when people really like/idolize a celebrity or politician, they will justify any behavior. I think we all have forgot the saying "right is right" and "wrong is wrong". People are so stuck with being "loyal" that they will not admit Will and Jada are way outta control with giving their children "freedom". Im surprised by Will since he had a nice traditional family structure growing up, Jada on the other hand, experienced the typical Baltimore/innercity single parent background, so I do not expect much from her
You could fake a tongue ring for a picture by placing the ball from a barbell (type of jewelry) on your tongue, & taking it off when the picture is done being taken, or anything that resembles that shape, It isn't hard to do -- however, tongue piercings & many other are widely accepted in society today, a lot of kids these days get them done, so why is it a big deal that she has it done? Because of who she is? Who her parents are?

Yes I know how old she is & just because I wouldn't allow it or you wouldn't doesn't mean it's wrong or right, but people are only truly judging her because she is famous, if she wasn't, this wouldn't make headlines. Again, a lot of people are arguing that this can't be faked, when it is easy to fake a tongue piercing for a picture.

LEAVE THIS GIRL ALONE HOW MANY HAVE TO HAVE AN EXPERIENCE BEFORE YOU HAVE LEARNED OR HOW MANY HAVE BEEN SHELTERED AND REBELED AGAINST YOUR PARENTS SMH.......YOU WERE ONCE YOUTH AND HAVE DONE THINGS YOU HAD NKNOW USINESS DOING YES I FEEL THE PARENTS SHOULD PUT A LIMIT ON THE WAY THINGS ARE EXPRESSED BBUT ENCOURAGE HER DONT JUDGE HER REMEMBER HOW BEING JUDGED HAS IN THE PAST AND EVEN NOW MAKES YOU FEEL REMEBER NEVER JUDGE BECAUSE JUDGEMENT COMES UNTO YOU

people who say their just kids let them have fun ... if this is what she does in public what crazy things her parents allow behind close doors... im only 20 and this is ridiculous.

Are you familiar with google? If so, google fake tongue ring and you'll find that it's a magnetic - there's a magnet under the tongue that holds the ball on. Common sense.
quixotic84: Are you familiar with google? If so, google fake tongue
NO, NOT COOL AT ALL! Yeah, RIGHT she says it's fake? I don't beleive that! They said, "Where is Jada & Will", the parents? Look, Jada was probably there when she had it done? What's next, "TAT'S" all over her body, "Mini Mouse" or something? So innapropriate and desrespectful! You want to know what is so disrespectful, having that "Nicki Minaj" in her second video! Doesn't Will & Jada know what she is about and represent? Nicki isn't for the lil kids! WHAT'S WRONG? It is not Willow's fault it's Will & Jada's fault ALLOWING this 11 year-old EXPLORE and be in CONTROL of things! Look, I say, when you are 18 years-old and not living under my roof, you can do what you want to ya body! I don't give a darn if she is a artist/celeb,
SHE IS TOO YOUNG & HAVING TOO MUCH FREEDOM!
LOLAMarie1: NO, NOT COOL AT ALL! Yeah, RIGHT she says it's
Her parents shouldn't put her out there like that. She has an album out and every opportunity they have her out left and right. She's a child star of her parent's making. Though I agree with you there, my question is are her parents monitoring her online activities?
Jennifer_Hagan: Her parents shouldn't put her out there like that. She
Uhmm tongue piercing are not my thing. My daughter's dentist always gives her a firm lecture on how bad these are in terms of the piercing banging around on her teeth and chipping her enamel.. Now whether or not this is true suffice it to say I will go with it given how much it costs to keep nice teeth:)
My rule...I have respectfully requested that my daughter avoid the hype, pomp and circumstance of current trends until her brain has matured enough to engage in these activities. By goodness with the massive tatoo craze, these kids are going to look like walking ink smears has their skin looses elasticity and they grow old:)

if her barbell is short enough it shouldnt touch her teeth, depending if its pierced in the right spot. also, putting an acrylic ball on it would minimize that,. ive always had metal and other piercings(lip,"medusa") and my dentist says theres no visible damage because theyre well placed/jewelry suited to my anatomy.
Krista_Guignard: if her barbell is short enough it shouldnt touch her
Why thank you Krista for the info. Like I said I'm not sure if her dentist is just telling her this to thwart the attempt but either way I'm okay with it. I think I'll let her season for a while longer before she makes piercing a tatooing choices.
