Alanis Morissette, 'Ironic': Watch Singer Perform Her Seminal Hit (VIDEO EXCLUSIVE)

WATCH: Alanis Performs 'Ironic'

It's like rain ... -- It only takes those three words to strike up some mid-'90s nostalgia in most of us. "Ironic," Alanis Morissette's best-known song to date, is one of those rare pop anthems that transcends simple distinctions like "good or bad music."

That's good, because the lyrics also go beyond the, well, traditional definition of irony. And if you haven't listened since the track debuted on 1995's Jagged Little Pill, note that the lyrics have changed to include a nod to same sex-marriage advocates ("It's meeting the man of my dreams / And then meeting his beautiful husband").

Nonetheless, Morissette herself (now 38 years old), is still willing to perform the track. She recently performed the tune as part of "Guitar Center Sessions." Morissette's episode -- which promises a behind-the-scenes look into her career -- will air on DirecTV at 9 p.m. on June 29.

Morissette has a new album, Havoc and Bright Lights, due out August 28. The effort will be her seventh studio album and is preceded by 2008's Flavors of Entanglement. Though Morissette had said she wrote over thirty songs for Havoc, it will be a standard 12-track disc. The first single, "Guardian," will be available for purchase on May 15.
