Now this truly is "A Midsummer Night's Dream."

The Independent Shakespeare Company is resuming its annual series of free Shakespeare performances in Griffith Park. The theatrics start this Thursday, June 28, and will continue every Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday until Sept. 2.

Patrons will enjoy "The Winter's Tale," "A Midsummer Night's Dream," and "The Comedy of Errors." Check out the schedule to see which masterpiece will be performed on what evening.

Or, if the beach is more your style, you can catch the Salty Shakespeare Company's performances of a shortened version of "Hamlet" at the Annenberg Community Beach House in Santa Monica. The company will be holding a workshop on July 3, and will perform on July 11, 12, 13, 17, 18 and 20. It's also free, but you need to make reservations online.

So pack a picnic (sans alcohol, though), bring a blanket, and take in one of the Bard's shows in some of the most beautiful places in LA!
