U.S. Marshals Auction Seized Artwork By Pablo Picasso, Marc Chagall And Other Masters (PHOTOS)

Get Your Hands On Picassos, Rembrandts And Other Mastworks Owned By Scam Artists (PHOTOS)

Art-lovers have the chance to take home original works by Picasso, Chagall, Matisse and many others, thanks to the U.S. Marshals Service.

The pieces are up for auction until July 2, and can be perused and bid upon here. For just over $2,000 (as of now), collectors can up their cultural cache with a self-portrait of Keith Haring,
or plunk down almost $6,000 (again, as of now) on a religious scene by Rembrandt.

The 245 masterworks were seized as part of federal criminal investigations. The cases involve Mark Drier, who was nabbed for a $400 million Ponzi scheme in 2009; Justin French, a real estate developer convicted in 2011 of cheating the government and investors out of $11 million in a tax-credit ploy based on rehabilitating historic buildings; and Shawn Merriman, convicted in 2010 for operating a mail fraud Ponzi scheme that cost investors $21 million.

The auction's proceeds will go towards compensating the victims of these cases.
