People seem to forget that Dick Cheney negotiated an "exception" for fracking" and moved it out of the purview of most existing environmental regulations in botht he "Safe Drinking Water Act" and "Clean Air Act". We here in NC are being bombarded with high production value tv and radio "ads" for "natural, clean" gas. All to make it seem so benign and harmless. NC only has a short five to ten year supply but there must be a ton of profit in it. Of course it will contaminate millions of gallons of precious clear water that this drought prone state can ill afford to lose. There are many reasons to fight the take over of state legislatures by the GOP but the environmental degradation that they are willing to support and foist on us would be reason enough if most people actually realized what it may cost us all....just for to profit a very few....for a very short time.

The powers that be appear to be giving a pass to fracking. There's obviously gas-lobby pressure, but also huge political pressure to supply lots of gas that is said to be cleaner burning than oil. If so, it shows how weak is the anti-fracking movement, and how hopelessly behind is the clean energy movement. I get the sense that neither has arrived at a point of leverage where it can even get a grip.
