The republican party has exploited racial resentment from Richard Nixon down to Mitt Romney and now that the south dominates their party it will become even more evident than before as the racist rallying cry of states rights is now fully embraced by the party as a whole. Davis is a master at using race but he is certainly not alone among GOP strategists to do so.

Sorry to be cynical but I don't buy that there isn't a tinge of racism in the whole idea of portraying Obama this way. It is why it was quickly rejected after some of the details were revealed. For someone that created this document to not understand this is beyond me. Based on that, it looks like he is frustrated by the fallout more than anything. That said, at least he didn't do what most of the outrageous conservatives do, which is double down.

he isn't a racist, he just uses the racist meme to draw attention away from the fact the GOP has nothing to offer anyone who doesn't make 1mil + per year. if the rest of the media would stop seeking and then endlessly debating "is this a dog whistle/racist idea" rather than checking the facts and numbers in an emperic way and not trying to defend both sides, put point out where the facts fall and for whom

For him to say that he was the only one in America who did not see his written rantings as racist, must make him the only one in America who thinks all the rest of us are naive.

Harping on the tenuous connection between Jeremiah Wright and President Obama is not informational or even remotely relevant to issues. So there must be a subliminal message for it to have any impact. And that impact, my friend is upon racist mindsets.

Republicans continue to be stealth racists. From their gated communities they support supply side economics and a draconian penal system that are racists in their outcomes, but allow them plausible deniability on the immediate racism quetion.

Republicans say they are not personally racist- but the collaborate with racists, they are the new Dixiecrats- call them the Dixiecans in the South.

Denial of the persistence of racism in our society is the new racism. This cannot be stated enough.
