Baby 'Bikini' Onesie From Gordman's Has Parents Outraged (VIDEO)

A baby bodysuit with a woman's silhouette printed on the front has parents in Southaven, MS outraged. "Inappropriate" is what several shoppers said when Action News 5 interviewed them outside of Gordman's, the store selling the onesie.

Wild Child, a brand manufactured by Bon Bebe, sized the outfit for 18-month-old girls. But mom Cathryn McKee told the news station, "I just think that is a little ridiculous that you would put that on your child." One father who spoke on camera says he wouldn't let his daughter wear the "bikini" because "it gives people the wrong idea too quickly."

Commenters on the Action News 5 website were split. "It's vulgar [sic]," one posted. To each his own, another argued. "If you do not like, then do not buy it," John wrote.

The bikini onesie is only one of the Wild Child outfits on Bon Bebe's website with a questionable message. Another reads "Lock Up Your Daughters" with a graphic of a padlock printed underneath.

And, this isn't the first time parents have taken issue with children's clothing sold in their local retail stores. Last November, shoppers were horrified to find a pair of crotchless panties at 'Kids N Teen' in Colorado. A few months earlier, French brand, Jours Apres Lunes, sold a "loungerie" line for 3 to 36-month-old girls.

Some shoppers are not as turned off by the latest children's apparel in question as the moms and dads who reacted to these earlier infractions.

"I just don't take offense to that at all," mom Jeannie Stanley said when she was asked about the bikini onesie.

Much ado about nothing, but tons of people raved about Little Miss Sunshine where a small female child danced like a stripper to Super Freak, that was uncomfortable to watch so I changed the channel and tried to forget the incident ever happened. The onesies in the slideshow are great though.

Once again the conservative almighty preaching folk want to turn something harmless into something evil... The reality is this tee-shirt on a beach is usually worn by someone a little on the chubby side and most babies are a little chubby... Completely harmless and quite funny. If my daughter was still wearing onsies I would buy one just to annoy the "perfect people" that want to preach on deaf ears. Go take you kids to the park and stop picking on the innocent onsie... bullies!!!

I think the choice of what to dress your child in is one thing, and it is just that, a choice. It say more about the parent than the child. It also says alot about the way the child will be raised, and that is not to really a bad thing. Some will be raised with an open mind, sense of humor. Some with a more subdued sense. I do agree that there are more important things going on in the world.

I have seen worse things put on babies. Bottom line is, anyone who is outraged has the right to be outraged and not buy it, but I have the right to think it's cute, and would definitely purchase one if I had a baby girl. Another thought: Go to any beach, and see how much skin is covered - rather, NOT covered - by the average bikini. The one on this onesie is rather conservative by today's standards, and it can be argued that it actually promotes modesty!

Thank you for your generalization. I normally don't respond to such polarizing comments as yours, but I was blessed with two wonderful girls, who are bright, mature, responsible and successful.
Maybe I'm naive, but I see absolutely nothing wrong with this article of baby clothing. If you do, fine...Don't buy one...but you have no right to label me because I have a different viewpoint than yours.

Where's the onesie with the well endowed man in a G-String? Is that next? The fact is there are countless child molesters, massive quantities of child porn and children forced or sold into prostitution all around the world. Something like this only helps to sexualize children which I am sure must be a thrill for all the child molesters out there. People need to wake up.
