Alan Cumming On 'The Good Wife': Actor Almost Turned Down Role (VIDEO)

'The Good Wife' Almost Looked VERY Different

Alan Cumming has eaten up scenery on "The Good Wife" for four seasons now, but he almost turned down the role.

On "CBS This Morning" (weekdays, 7 a.m. ET on CBS), Cumming, who plays Eli Gold on "The Good Wife," told Gayle King he almost didn't take the part because he didn't understand the script.

"I don't have TV so I'd never seen it," he said. "I didn't really understand -- I read it really fast." Cumming said he didn't think the part was really him, but "The Good Wife" fans can thank his manager who convinced him to take the role.

And the TV Academy must think the role suits him, he's been nominated for an Emmy twice.
