Conway Mackenzie Throws 25th Anniversary Bash In Detroit For $1.5 Million

Mike Tyson, Dom Perignon And Lobsters Galore At Detroit's Party Of The Year

So it seems that Birmingham-based restructuring and financial advisory firm Conway Mackenzie threw itself a little 25th anniversary party recently.

Was it deserving of the $1.5 million price tag, a low estimate, according to Society Confidential? The column rhapsodizes that founder Van Conway's bash will be talked about for "another 25 years."

While we won't be talking about it for another two-and-a-half decades (namely, because we weren't invited), there's no doubt that the decadence of this all-night soiree at Detroit's Roostertail was eyebrow-raising.

Mike Tyson was a guest. So was departed Detroit City Council member Martha Reeves, who performed for the crowd while fireworks erupted from a barge anchored in the river. Detroit Red Wings anthem singer Karen Newman belted out "The Star-Spangled Banner" while WWII fighter jets buzzed the crowd overhead (seriously). Atlanta-based Party On The Moon played a set. The band's past performances include President Obama's inaugural bash, as well as three Donald Trump New Years' Eve parties.

Gee, who'd ever think they'd have the same taste in music?

Were you thirsty? Why not toss back a shot of Louis XIII cognac, which retails in stores for several thousand dollars a bottle? Or you could swill a glass from one of the 450 carafes of Dom Perignon ordered for the party, served to you by a delectable model clad in a slinky black dress. Drink too much? A fleet of Metro Cars idled in the Roostertail's parking lot, according to the News, for partygoers who had too much of a party.

Fashion and design blogger Alvita Lozano-Frankie, online at Freestyle in Detroit, wrote that event planners even thought of providing a cigar lounge, Ben & Jerry's ice cream stations and Starbucks coffee bars throughout the venue. As for the menu, look no further than the ice sculpture laden with lobster, crab and shellfish.

Some people really know how to live.

Would you spend $1.5 million on a party? If so, what would you do?
