Oprah Buys Father's Barbershop, Resulting In Ugly Family Feud

Oprah Embroiled In Ugly Family Feud

A decision by Oprah to buy her father's struggling business has caused an ugly family feud.

Local Nashville station WSMV reported that the talk-show queen had purchased father Vernon Winfrey's barbershop after the property had gone into foreclosure. The shop has been in Nashville for over 50 years.

But Oprah's stepmother, Barbara Winfrey, told WSMV that she was furious about the move. She said she had intended to take out a loan to deal with the financial issues surrounding the barbershop, and resented that her stepdaughter had intervened.

"I know what is going on," she said. "And I'm tired of it. I've had enough." She added that Oprah "doesn't care about the community, doesn't care about the barbershop, but I do."

In an even wilder twist, Vernon Winfrey told the station that he and his wife "have not been getting along well" and that he disagrees with her assessment. He then filed for divorce from Barbara.
